SOLD Etched With Age

Well, my blog and I are still at war this morning but it looks like it is going to let me post after a few trys and a very slow upload. Good news. I have been asked to be one of three judges for the 51st Art Annual, which is at the Mondavi Winery on Woodbrige Road in Acampo, Ca. in March.
Also my Jerrry gave me the radio/CD player that he did not use..YAAAH! My old one quit playing CD's and I had to tape the on switch on to get the radio to play...so now I am in the lap of luxury!!!!
Sad news, I have lost my figure drawing sketchbook so I will not be posting any of them on eBay. For the life of me I do not know where it is. Sometimes I think I am lossing my mind. We have been cleaning the studio for weeks...it is probably in a new place, I hope. I have a whole stack of nude really quick sketches on newsprint but I can not imagine anyone wanting them as newsprint paper is such poor quality. I could use feedback on that.
Etched with Age is a 25 minute quick study in oil for my quick studies class.Click Here To Bid

SOLD Sultry Lady

Well, today I stripped 6 portraits off the canvases with Easy-Off Oven cleaner. I figure if I do not think they are good enough for a bidder on eBay to like them, I should reuse the canvas. Enough saving things that are of no value besides, my work has gotten better since then. This is a 25 minute oil head study from my Quick Studies Class. Click Here To Bid

SOLD Kenny, Black Profile 3, pastel 18" X 24" Marilyn Eger

This is Kenny again. This drawing has much nicer color than this image. Doesn't he have a terrific face!!!! I have been doing some work for my MFA directed study but I am going to work on that more before I post any of that work. I have been using award ribbons as my subject. The colors are so beautiful and the flowing shapes are a challenge. To Bid on Kenny Click Here

Sold Kenny, Black Profile 2, pastel 18" X 24" Marilyn Eger

Oh, a really sad effect of the economy...the wonderful 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento, Ca. has officially closed. It was a wonderful gallery and Jim Ferry and his staff worked so hard for the community of Sacramento and the art community at large. They will be missed!!!

This was a quick study in pastel of Kenny Davis. He was a student of mine in 1993. He was a terrific person and a wonderful portrait model!!!!! Click Here to Bid

SOLD Moody Bearded Man 1

I did this quite a few years back in a painting class with Ning Hou. I learned a lot from him but it was a painful learning experience. He had us paint from dark to light and he would say one stroke...one stroke...one stroke! He meant that you only put down one stoke of color then change the color with every stroke.  The color is rather emotional but the painting is playful. It is an oil and 8" X 10". Yes, I am still cleaning out the studio. Yesterday I started to rehang it and discovered that it was much dirtier than I thought. I am allergic to dust and my head and face are saying bad words to me today!!! To Bid Click Here.

Head Sculpture, charcoal 18" X 24" Marilyn Eger

To Bid Click Here

I am still cleaning out the studio one drawing at a time. I am still trying to figure out how to ship paintings bigger than 11" X 14". Once I am sure I know how to deal with the shipping, I will post some misc. figures in oil, that I have done for several of my Academy Classes. I also have a large stack of portraits that I have done over the years of my students. They were all done from life and most were between 30 minutes and 45 minutes. They are mostly pastel maybe a few in charcoal. I will be posting those as well. Some are really delightful, and I see something lovely or .... and so I have kept them for many years.

Unhung

Well, now that the studio tour is over...I need to rehang the entire studio. It looks depressing right now!!!! It is bare and sad. The bottom picture is paintings to hang. The 3rd picture is the hordes of paintings that keep piling up in the studio.(the flat file is full also.) The 1st and 2nd is my upstairs studio space. Hopefully this weekend I will get some work back on the walls again. I have a huge stack of pastel quick life portraits and I am hoping to put some of those on eBay very soon. The entire stack is past students that came to the Lodi Art Center to model about 10 years ago. I am a pack rat. I just can not bear to toss out something that I see beauty in. I am still posting under grad life drawings and head drawings on eBay. Click here for latest eBay post

Eger, Sassy Female Nude,5, oil exag. color 11"X14"

Yesterday my dearest Jerry was helping me reorganize the studio. I would never do it without him but my goodness it is such a painful experience. The studio now has NO paintings on the walls, needs dusted and then vacumned again and only then paintings can go back on the walls. We moved all the paintings to the downstairs holding area. I had no idea how many paintings there are. Looking at all of them was a frightening thought. To Bid Click Here

Black Nude

Well, the studio tour started today. If you did not make it, it will go on for one more day, Sunday from 10 to 5 P.M.  I am bushed!!! I demonstrated all day but I was working on a piece for my MFA directed study so all is good! The visitors were all so pleasant and enjoyable!I will get a good night sleep and be ready to tackle another painting. This little nude is a 25 minute oil sketch and the color is supposed to be exaggerated but it does not feel very exaggerated to me. Oh well. I did try. To Bid Click Here

Nude 2,Grace

I am hoping this is a tasteful enough nude that it will not offend anyone. I have 7 small, oil, nudes on eBay right now. I put them there as I have no other place to show them. They are all quick studies done for my Academy of Art "Quick Studies Class" between 25 and 60 minutes. Each one has some quality that I feel is compelling. Go and check them out and give me some feedback please. I am still trying to clean out the studio, as it is wall to wall paintings. If you are not familiar with eBay, just by clicking here does not mean you have bought anything. You actually have to bid once you get there. Also, if you want to see the other paintings there is a spot in the eBay window that says "other items for this seller". You can click there and see the other paintings etc. You all probably know this, but this is a learning experience for me. Click here to bid

SOLD Charming Gypsy, Oil on chip board by Marilyn Eger

I had so much fun painting this piece. She is painted on chip board with oil paint that is thinned way down with turpentine and applied in a dry brush technique. The French Impressionists developed this approach and when done it resembles a pastel although it is done with oil paint. If you paint in oils you should try it. You may like it. Click here to bid

SOLD Dreads, Black Man, Pastel, 22" X 15" by Marilyn Eger

SOLD Gypsy, Pastel, 22" X 15" by Marilyn Eger

I sure had fun doing this one. Since then I have gotten 2 sets of Sennilier pastels and am dying to try them. They were on sale at half off. I use Nupastels to start the drawing then shift to soft pastels. This one was done on printmaking paper with a charcoal value underdrawing that was sprayed before adding pastel over the topTo Bid Click Here
Oh, the other really cool thing that happened is that my old fig tree that was blown over a year and a half ago is growing again. Apparently it is growing from a root that was left in the ground. It is about 2 feet tall now. One of the pleasures of going to the studio used to be, to stop and pick figs.  Maybe in a few years I will have that pleasure again. Enjoy the moment!!  : )

SOLD Tre 2, a past student, drawing, by Marilyn Eger

I wish I had this student longer. His face is so expressive. Students in California schools are fairly transient. Well, yesterday I signed and varnished 30 paintings and I am hoping to frame them today. Yes, it is preparation for the studio tour, which is next weekend. You can get tickets at the Knowlton Gallery or the Lodi Art Center. They are only $10.00 for 2 people. That is a deal for 2 days worth of entertainment! Yesterday when I was signing my paintings I was concentrating so had on making the letters look right that I kept miss spelling my name and had to wipe it off and start over! It is hell getting old!!!!!Click here to bid
