This one is the interior of Sally's barn again but I really like the feeling that this rooster is running from me. Again this is an oil, 6" X 6", $120.00 and at the 20th Street Gallery, in Sacramento for the next 2 monthes.
I found this tractor at Ryers Tractor outside of Galt. I put it into a barn environment. Today is my 1st day back to school after 2 weeks off so this is short. Since I have jury duty later this week I need to be very organized today. You already know this is a 6" X 6" oil. Have an amazing day!!!!
My favorite part of this painting is the very understated tree on the right with all the lost and found edges. This is again a 50/50 and is 120.00. It is a 6" X 6" oil. I have 40 more in this them and they are being shown at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento. Yesterday was a beautiful day. It also was a day that I could do nothing right with my paint brush. In 6 hours I got less than 1 hours work. At times like that I wonder why I am torturing myself. I guess it is the good days that keep me picking up the brush. Enjoy the beauty of each moment!
Ya know how chickens and roosters fly short distances and walk all over the things in the barnyard? Well, this guy is strolling across the track protector of a crawler. The crawler was from in front of the Delicato Winery. Out at the ranch several years ago, one of the chickens layed her eggs nestled in the tracks of a crawler and I thought that would make a wonderful painting...yet the moment passed I missed it. This is again a 6" X 6" oil on masonite board painted around the edges and ia $120.00. The work is at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento. See the link in this blog. Have a great day!
I really love this one. The rooster has such attitude. Also I am very happy with the edge treatment on the rooster's tail. If you look closely there is my shadow on the ground and also turning as it hits the barn door. This is also an oil, 6" X 6" and painted around the edges. It is $120.00 and is at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento, Ca.
This is another tractor that I discovered outside of the Delicato Winery, I placed it in Sally's barn because the light streaming into the barn gave the tractor a warm glow, as to say a days work well done. this is 6" X 6", oil and is $120.00 and is available at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento.
I had a good time playing with the colors on this rooster. The light patterns are from stacked ladders in Sally's barn. Since the economy is so bad the "barnyard pieces will be $120.00 instead of 150.00. They are all 6" X 6" on masonite board and painted around the edges.
My friend Sally let me do a photo shoot inside her barn. The shadows were so beautiful that these interiors became a huge inspiration for this body of work. All the interior spaces are from Sally's barn. Thank-you Sally!!! I love the shadow patterns from those stacked ladders. This show opens April 8th in Sacramento at the 20th Street Gallery at 911 20th Street. Hope you can come.
This is an old Perry tractor. It is setting out on Peltier Road with 2 other old ones. But I thought all three were to many for this tiny painting. This is a 6" X 6" oil painting on masonite and painted around the edges.
This is an old historic barn in Lockford, Ca. I pass this barn all the time but the barn would be nothing without the rooster. This will be at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento, Ca. is 6" X 6" and is $150.00.
I have been talking about these paintings I was trying to get done. Well, Here is a tiny taste. I took a quick overview photo so you can see them together. They are all 6" X 6", oils on masonite board and they are painted around the edges. The paintings get delivered to the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento, Ca. this Saturday. the top photo are the last 25 and the lower photo is the first 25.
I like the gesture of these two. It is a Mom and her baby. These are sheep raised by a woman in Acampo, Ca. This is a 6" X 6", $150.00, unframed and is available at the Knowlton Gallery.
Well, I finished my 50 paintings for the 50/5o show at the 20th Steet Gallery in Sacramento, Ca. My friend will deliver them for me on Saturday. If anyone out there knows anything about the effects of varnishing to soon, can you please comment back to me. Also is there a way to correct the problem besides not varnishing for a year?
Well, this is the Ward Ranch on Peltier Road out in Acampo, Ca. For some reason I have always liked this painting. The color is pretty quiet for me. I usually use more color. I am down to 3 50/50 paintings to sign and detail. I was hoping to have them all done yesterday but at 5:00P.M. I was just to tired to keep painting. The last three have proportions that need to be right and I needed a rested mind to evaluate the changes. I will finish those changes today.
To see some of the pieces go to 2009-50-50.blogspot.com My pieces posted there are not signed or highlighted yet but you can get an idea of what they are.
I really like this one. It is fun and playful. It is in oil, 6" X 6 "on a masonite panel, $150.00, unframed and available at the Knowlton Gallery. I have 21 50/50's left to sign and add highlights and details. I must finish soon so they will be dry for delivery.
This is a view off Lower Sacramento Road in Acampo, Ca. It is $150.00 unframed, oil and 6 inches X 6 inches. It can be purchased at the Knowlton Gallery. Well, I am about to go to the studio and sign more 50/50's. Will talk later.
Well, I am almost done with the 2009 50/50 paintings. They will be $150.00 just like these are and are also 6 inches X 6 inches. I signed 13 of them today and the rest need highlights and small details as well as a signature.
More sheep. I will be in the studio all day today working on my Academy of Art homework and trying to get more done on the 50/50's. The homework is a priority right now. This painting is at the Knowlton Gallery, is unframed for $150.00, oil and 6 inch X 6 inch.
I am running behind on everything. So far I am getting my assignments into the Academy on time and getting respectable grades, but it a constant juggle and struggle. I am still working on my 50 paintings for the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento Ca. I am not ready to post any yet. I want a chance to add highlights, fine tune, and sign them before I post any, but I still have 8 or 9 with no paint at all on them yet.
Oh, I really like this little painting of sheep. They are really cute. This painting and the next 20 are all at the Knowlton Gallery and are unframed for $150.00.
Here is 27 as you see the cherries are blooming but the vineyard is still asleep. This is an oil, 6 inches X 6 inches and painted around the sides. It can be purchased at the Knowlton Gallery for $150.00
Well, this is 26 of the farming and ranching pieces. Cherries and vineyards are big crops in the valley. Ironically it is almost cherry season now. The blooms will be showing in the next month or so. This is again an oil, 6 inches X 6 inches and available at the Knowlton Gallery for $150.00.
I love painting and the world around me is amazing. Life is to short and I want to see the best in people. I am putting a few drawings on eBay, as I have time. My Etsy store is empty for now, maybe when I retire or finish my M.F.A. or just find some extra time, I may try again. My Blog is more a forum to share what I am painting, my growth, both failures and successes. I am also working on my M.F.A. in painting and working full time as a high school art teacher. I am an 10 year cancer survivor so I have been given a special gift of life and want to enjoy it to it's fullest.
