This was a group of drawings I did for my final project in my online grad figure drawing class.Click here to bid I was so pleasantly surprised last week on the way to the studio. The fig tree that blew over, over a year ago has put up new shoots. I was so pleased. I really missed that tree.
She is another life drawing from my days at the Kansas City Art Institute from the life drawing class, They are quick with lots of vitality as they are timed and when the model moves... Yesterday I had a very good day in the studio. I have air conditioning but refuse to turn it on. Click Here to Bid
I am still cleaning out the studio. This is a life drawing from my Kansas City Art Institute days.(for those of you that do not know what life drawing is, it means I was working from a LIVE model not a photo. It is very challenging and rewarding. It was done in my undergraduate program. I have since signed it as it is not signed in the photo. I am off to the studio early this AM. Click here to bid
This one took 2nd in the Grape Festival for the graphics category. In the studio today I had one of those perfect moments were it was no longer work but an extention of myself. Wow, that felt good. I have not felt that in a long time. It will be a while before you see that piece because it is for my Directed Study that I am doing right now. I am very excited!!!! To Bid Click Here
She definitely has attitude. Sfumato is a technique for having the hair soften out into the background. It is an Italian word. I was working on some paintings for the studio tour this morning. I am trying to put finishing touches on some of my quick studies. I really like a lot of them but they were not quite done. Also I have been brainstorming a new still life idea. TO BID CLICK HERE.
Just a reminder. TheOPEN STUDIO TOUR is Saturday and Sunday October 9th and 10th, from 10 A.M. to 5 P. M. The passport is $10.00 and admits two people with a map. It is a very cool event. Tickets are at the Knowlton Gallery and the Lodi Art Center. The proceeds help support the arts in our area and it is a lot of fun!!!!!
Another head drawing in conte on grey paper. Here the face just melts into the background. I am getting so forgetful that it is worrisome. Oh well, maybe it is old age???? To see the detail, click on the image and it will become larger. To Bid Click Here
This is from my head drawing class.I am so relieved, the contract for the teachers union passed. I am not excited about less pay, but with the economy, the way it is and so many taking pay cuts...I feel like it is just our part in helping the economy. As my dear husband says, I still have a job!!! Click here to bid.
The quarter is just there to illustrate the size of these sketches. These are all family members except the peasant girl at the bottom. They are on grey paper and done in conte using only white and terra cotta. It is a challenge to work this small. Click here to bid
I really enjoyed drawing these male nudes. I felt they were very tasteful and really like how the light plays on the skin. I had to make a few corrections to this one up at the top of the head...I originally made the head to big and I had to whittle it down to size. Click here to bid
I hope this drawing does not offend anyone. I just love this drawing. It does not show anything that would be of questionable content. It was done for one of my Academy of Art classes and I really like this drawing. I am trying to find appreciation for all things, even when bad things happen. Even in the bad things there are lessons
This is a drawing I did for one of my classes at the Academy of Art. I have a huge pile of drawings in my studio. I thought someone may like them. She would love to get out of the flat file and up on a wall!! She is actually drawn on 18" X 24" paper but she is only 9" X 12". I think my coffee is ready so...see you later. I am grateful today.
This is an 18" X 24" pastel. I have tried to leave the brush strokes in it. I have been long fascinated with the reflections in a mirror and how it could be used to convey time. Also the ribbons you get at show are so pretty, that I have been trying to decide how I can incorporate them into my work. Must go get my cup of coffee.
I love painting and the world around me is amazing. Life is to short and I want to see the best in people. I am putting a few drawings on eBay, as I have time. My Etsy store is empty for now, maybe when I retire or finish my M.F.A. or just find some extra time, I may try again. My Blog is more a forum to share what I am painting, my growth, both failures and successes. I am also working on my M.F.A. in painting and working full time as a high school art teacher. I am an 10 year cancer survivor so I have been given a special gift of life and want to enjoy it to it's fullest.
