Barnyard 11

I found this tractor at Ryers Tractor outside of Galt. I put it into a barn environment. Today is my 1st day back to school after 2 weeks off so this is short. Since I have jury duty later this week I need to be very organized today. You already know this is a 6" X 6" oil. Have an amazing day!!!!

Barnyard 10 Tractor with Early Morning Light

My favorite part of this painting is the very understated tree on the right with all the lost and found edges. This is again a 50/50 and is 120.00. It is a 6" X 6" oil. I have 40 more in this them and they are being shown at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento.
Yesterday was a beautiful day. It also was a day that I could do nothing right with my paint brush. In 6 hours I got less than 1 hours work. At times like that I wonder why I am torturing myself. I guess it is the good days that keep me picking up the brush. Enjoy the beauty of each moment!

Barnyard 9

This is the old Delicato Tractor and I placed it in a more natural setting. I was trying to see how many different angles and environments I could put the tractor in and still have fun with it.

"Barnyard 8, Roosting the Crawler"

Ya know how chickens and roosters fly short distances and walk all over the things in the barnyard? Well, this guy is strolling across the track protector of a crawler. The crawler was from in front of the Delicato Winery. Out at the ranch several years ago, one of the chickens layed her eggs nestled in the tracks of a crawler and I thought that would make a wonderful painting...yet the moment passed I missed it. This is again a 6" X 6" oil on masonite board painted around the edges and ia $120.00. The work is at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento. See the link in this blog. Have a great day!

Barnyard 7 "Rooster in Sally's Barn 3"

I really love this one. The rooster has such attitude. Also I am very happy with the edge treatment on the rooster's tail. If you look closely there is my shadow on the ground and also turning as it hits the barn door. This is also an oil, 6" X 6" and painted around the edges. It is $120.00 and is at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento, Ca.

Barnyard 6, Tractor at rest

This is another tractor that I discovered outside of the Delicato Winery, I placed it in Sally's barn because the light streaming into the barn gave the tractor a warm glow, as to say a days work well done. this is 6" X 6", oil and is $120.00 and is available at the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento.

Barnyard 5 "Rooster in Sally's Barn 2" SOLD

I had a good time playing with the colors on this rooster. The light patterns are from stacked ladders in Sally's barn. Since the economy is so bad the "barnyard pieces will be $120.00 instead of 150.00. They are all 6" X 6" on masonite board and painted around the edges.

Barnyard 4 "Rooster on Track Layer "

This track layer was in front of Delicato Winery. I took lots of pictures of it and their tractor for this body of work. I did not us liquin this year so my paint is much richer and more full bodied.

Barnyard 3 "Rooster in Sally's Barn"

My friend Sally let me do a photo shoot inside her barn. The shadows were so beautiful that these interiors became a huge inspiration for this body of work. All the interior spaces are from Sally's barn. Thank-you Sally!!! I love the shadow patterns from those stacked ladders. This show opens April 8th in Sacramento at the 20th Street Gallery at 911 20th Street. Hope you can come.

Barnyard 2

This is an old Perry tractor. It is setting out on Peltier Road with 2 other old ones. But I thought all three were to many for this tiny painting. This is a 6" X 6" oil painting on masonite and painted around the edges.

If anyone out there knows anything about the effects of varnishing to soon, can you please comment back to me. Also is there a way to correct the problem besides not varnishing for a year?

Farming and Ranching 38

Well, this is the Ward Ranch on Peltier Road out in Acampo, Ca. For some reason I have always liked this painting. The color is pretty quiet for me. I usually use more color.
I am down to 3 50/50 paintings to sign and detail. I was hoping to have them all done yesterday but at 5:00P.M. I was just to tired to keep painting. The last three have proportions that need to be right and I needed a rested mind to evaluate the changes. I will finish those changes today.

To see some of the pieces go to 2009-50-50.blogspot.com My pieces posted there are not signed or highlighted yet but you can get an idea of what they are.

"Farming and Ranching #30

I am running behind on everything. So far I am getting my assignments into the Academy on time and getting respectable grades, but it a constant juggle and struggle. I am still working on my 50 paintings for the 20th Street Gallery in Sacramento Ca. I am not ready to post any yet. I want a chance to add highlights, fine tune, and sign them before I post any, but I still have 8 or 9 with no paint at all on them yet.

Oh, I really like this little painting of sheep. They are really cute. This painting and the next 20 are all at the Knowlton Gallery and are unframed for $150.00.
