Homework, homework and more homework

Today I have been working on my homework. I am happy with my progress but sometimes I like the pastels very rough and unfinished looking and I know they need to be taken farther than that. My personal devil. Oh, yesterday we saw beautiful turkeys in the wild! Wow, it was amazing!!!!

I will post a pastel in a few more days. It still maybe in progress. I do not do these quickly. Kevin McPherson says to prep canvas and canvas board when you need a break...so I have! Enjoy the sun while we have it.

In Progress: "Elm and School"

Well, sorry I have not been posting. I have entered a few shows. I took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Delicato Art Show and a 2nd in pastel at the Tracy "Expressions" Show. The Grand Theater chose my "San Francisco Dusk" for inclusion in a special show they are doing now in Tracy. I have been working on my Masters Class and I have all 3 pastels  in progress but none done. All are 24" X 30" and I could use some feedback. I am posting "Elm and School" here. Can you please give me feedback? Thank-you!

Just Progress

Well, I really have no new finished work to show you. I am working on 3 pastels for my masters thesis and all are started but none are finished. Do you want to see the progress? Let me know. If you do...I will post progress. All 3 are on canson paper that I bought in a roll. I cut the paper to 24" X 30". All 3 are of this area. 2 are Lodi and one is Lockford.

I am also still stretching canvas and preparing for the Elsie May Goodwin demo on March 10th, 7 to 9 P.M. and the paintings that will be featured there. Most will be quick studies that were done in about 90 minutes.

Must go. If you want to see what I have on eBay click the link in the right hand corner of this blog! Enjoy the moment.

Hay 24 Umbrellas Up Rain or Shine, 6" X 6"

I just love the old tractors with the umbrellas. I do not see them very often but they have some kind of nostalgia that I like. This one is very impressionistic and painterly. Yesterday we went out to the olive ranch and someone had left the gate open and the cows were wandering in the orchard. It was frustrating but the cows were so cute! They follow each other and really did not like being separated from the herd. It was not to hard to get them back in the pasture with the rest of the cattle, especially with Jerry and I working together. I have 2 of my pastels well on their way for my M.F.A. class. They are not done but serious progress is being made. I have one more to start. I want all three going at the same time so that I can turn one to the wall while working on another. Then when it is turned around I will have a fresh eye to proceed. Have a great day.

Hay 47, Wild Hair Horse, Oil 6"X6" Marilyn Eger

Well, I must be losing my mind. Now I can not even get the selection button for posting a painting!! ULK!!!! Okay...It finally listened to me and gave me a browser window! Can a computer listen to me?  I am working on my pastels for my MFA thesis, so that is why I have been neglectful of my blog. Sorry about that. So far I have taken Easy Oven Cleaner to 8 16"X20" oils. Hey...when they are never going to be resolved, it is time to move on!!!! CLICK HERE TO SEE PAINTING OR BID!!

4 Lodi Thumbnails

These are three thumbnails I did of Lodi. I will be be taking the "Downtown Lodi" to a finished pastel. My family in Kansas a under a bunch of snow right now...schools and businesses are closed. I am grateful for our California weather. I am back in my Academy class right now and just finished Peggi Kroll Roberts videos on painting. They were a great reminder of the things I most often do wrong and need to work on!!!
