30 minute, unusual composition, 3

This little pewter creamer was another wonderful garage sale find. The reflections in it are so fun. The oranges are from our tree right outside the window, so as I work at the computer I can see how pretty it is. When they are cut they are so beautiful.

30 minute, unusual composition, 2

I love this little table. I found it at a garage sale and was just hoping to have an opportunity to paint it! This is a 30 minute oil sketch.

30 minute, unusual composition

I really like this group of paintings. I got some good news. My journal and 2 plein air landscapes were chosen for the 1st judging session for the Academy of Art's Spring Show. I may not make the final cut but even being in the 1st set is progress. This is an 9" X 12", 30 minute oil sketch.

Will And Catherine

Somehow, I lost this one in my last posting! Oups!!!

3 60 minute quick studies

These three 60 minute quick studies are of Catherine. The couple is Catherine snuggling with my son Will(also known as Matthew to his Mom), her husband. The one where she is reading, I will go back in and define the face more later. Isn't Catherine beautiful in the shawl? I knew she would be. Well I am going to veg for a while. I have been painting since about 8:30 this A.M. and believe it or not...it is hard work. Also rewarding and satisfying. Later! Enjoy the moment you are in.

40 minute, Jazz

This one is 40 minutes. Sorry I have not been posting. I am painting but I have not had the blog at the top of my urgent, to do list. I have do about 60 of the 90 paintings required for the Quick Studies Class. I feel good about my progress and I do feel that I am putting paint down in a more confident and painterly way.

25 minute pos/neg 32

Here is  the 31st quick study. Sorry about the glare. I am on the run. Teachers in Lodi Unified are really not very appreciated by the district. They want us to take a 2% pay cut, freeze our wages for 3 years and have us take 5 furlough days this year, 7.5 next year and the same for 3 years. It is a very big pay cut and even if we accept this they will STILL LAY OFF TEACHERS!!!!! As many as 246 teachers for the next school year. That could mean classes with 44 students or more. Our President says we are not doing a good enough job so will we do better with EVEN MORE students in our classes. Instead of 160 students a day it could be 210. Are teachers really going to be able to do a better job with that many more students and LESS teaching time????????  Sorry, I had to get it out of my system!

Clarene at the Beach

Here is a painting of my grand daughter Clarene. I figure on Easter Sunday I can post a finished painting. She is so precious...don't you think???? This is an 18" X 24 " oil painting. I finished it yesterday. Have a great day!

If you are in the Lodi area check out a new gallery in town. It is called STUDIO 20 and is on Elm I think. It is a block from the new movie complex and around the corner from Angelina's Mexican  Food. Check it out!!
