Black Nude

Well, the studio tour started today. If you did not make it, it will go on for one more day, Sunday from 10 to 5 P.M.  I am bushed!!! I demonstrated all day but I was working on a piece for my MFA directed study so all is good! The visitors were all so pleasant and enjoyable!I will get a good night sleep and be ready to tackle another painting. This little nude is a 25 minute oil sketch and the color is supposed to be exaggerated but it does not feel very exaggerated to me. Oh well. I did try. To Bid Click Here

I am hoping this is a tasteful enough nude that it will not offend anyone. I have 7 small, oil, nudes on eBay right now. I put them there as I have no other place to show them. They are all quick studies done for my Academy of Art "Quick Studies Class" between 25 and 60 minutes. Each one has some quality that I feel is compelling. Go and check them out and give me some feedback please. I am still trying to clean out the studio, as it is wall to wall paintings. SOLD Charming Gypsy, Oil on chip board by Marilyn Eger

I had so much fun painting this piece. She is painted on chip board with oil paint that is thinned way down with turpentine and applied in a dry brush technique. The French Impressionists developed this approach and when done it resembles a pastel although it is done with oil paint. If you paint in oils you should try it. You may like it. Click here to bid

SOLD Gypsy, Pastel, 22" X 15" by Marilyn Eger

I sure had fun doing this one. Since then I have gotten 2 sets of Sennilier pastels and am dying to try them. They were on sale at half off. I use Nupastels to start the drawing then shift to soft pastels. Oh, the other really cool thing that happened is that my old fig tree that was blown over a year and a half ago is growing again. Apparently it is growing from a root that was left in the ground. It is about 2 feet tall now. One of the pleasures of going to the studio used to be, to stop and pick figs.  Maybe in a few years I will have that pleasure again. Enjoy the moment!!  : )

I wish I had this student longer. His face is so expressive. Students in California schools are fairly transient. Well, yesterday I signed and varnished 30 paintings and I am hoping to frame them today. Yes, it is preparation for the studio tour, which is next weekend. You can get tickets at the Knowlton Gallery or the Lodi Art Center. They are only $10.00 for 2 people. That is a deal for 2 days worth of entertainment! Yesterday when I was signing my paintings I was concentrating so had on making the letters look right that I kept miss spelling my name and had to wipe it off and start over! Tre was one of my students a few years back. He has a wonderful face and I was so fortunate that he let me draw him for my class. This drawing has taken a few awards and I hope someone likes it as much as I do.I will be in the studio today getting paintings ready for the studio tour. I have some frames on order and am hoping they get here in time. Today is the dreaded signing day. I need to sign paintings and hopefully tomorrow varnish some.
